…tossed from the bike resulting in the bike and myself cartwheeling down the finish line hill
Second lap of the second moto, from what I hear I went sideways in the air, came up short and was tossed from the bike resulting in the bike and myself cartwheeling down the finish line hill.
I was racing in the MDRA series race at Pleasure Valley Raceway near Johnstown, PA. PVR has always been my favorite track. Due to graduating college last year, and then working full time I wasn’t riding much this year, but decided to make the trip to ride there. Second lap of the second moto, from what I hear I went sideways in the air, came up short and was tossed from the bike resulting in the bike and myself cartwheeling down the finish line hill.
The first things I remember are moments in the ambulance with my dad and the emt. Cause that’s always fun, there you are riding and having the time of your life, next thing you know you wake up in an ambulance getting drugs pumped into you. I spent the night in the trauma center at conemaugh memorial medical center in Johnstown, PA. After several ct scans, xrays, and other tests it was determined I had a concussion, butterfly break on my clavicle, bruised lung, cracked c7 wing, and cracked t1 wing. Apparently I landed on my head and left shoulder. The hospital doctors said that I was very fortunate to have been wearing a neck brace. I could have ended up paralyzed, or worse. And to think that the brace I have or had, it seems to be slightly damaged now, was the original brace that we preordered and had to wait for it to come out. Not the new fancy carbon, or lighter weight ones. The original design. That brace saved me from severely breaking my cervical vertebrae worse than what it was.
