“I thought he was dead”. That is how bad the crash was.
On Feb.1st, 2014, on his third ride at a practice day at North King County MC Club, Joshua cartwheeled off the bike (lucky he was wearing his new Leatt vest), but this was not all…
I would just like to say that we are ONE (or three) HAPPY CUSTOMER(s).
We purchased a Leatt Fusion Vest 2.0 Junior for Joshua Waller who is 2nd in NZ in the 6- 8 year old Intro Trail on his first bike (New Zealand Mini Motocross Nationals in November 2013). Joshua has only been racing motocross bikes for one and a half years. We live in town and he only rides on race day and an occasional practice day, so this is a great feat.
For Christmas this year, my family all put money in to purchase a Leatt Fusion 2.0 Junior vest in preparation for Joshua Waller to step up to a KTM 65. The second hand KTM65 was purchased late in January. On Feb.1st, 2014, on his third ride at a practice day at North King County MC Club, Joshua cartwheeled off the bike (lucky he was wearing his new Leatt vest), but this was not all. A CRF 150 was right behind, this bike ran over his head and chest, they all cartwheeled again. It was so serious all riding was stopped, Joshua was in a ball on the ground. A parents worst nightmare!! (Joshua does say that he thinks the bike ran over his head)
Paramedics attended, and fortunately Joshua had no broken bones, or any injuries at all (though we were cautious for internal injuries). We credit this to the new Leatt safety vest/neck brace, and new Fox V1 Pilot JR helmet that he was wearing. to his lack of injuries in a serious crash. The St Johns paramedic was brilliant and helpful with lots of great advice so we thank him as well.
The vest came out of the crash with fractures through the breakaway point. We can really see this vest has done it’s job. We will be saving hard to buy a new vest and helmet to ensure he is safe while riding and racing again on his new (second hand) bike. At the moment he is using the helmet and vest that were in the crash. Joshua has an amazing talent for riding which we will hopefully nurture when lessons can be saved for. I think that the people from Leatt can be most amazed from is that when Joshua was wearing his vest at the practice day – no other child that I could see was wearing one. The next event one week later AT LEAST 6 other riders were wearing these vests. We recommend them to everyone. We hope you appreciate our experience of this new vest and our gratitude on how it protected out son in a huge crash.
What gets me the most, is one of our friends who was there for us at the time said to another friend “I thought he was dead”. That is how bad the crash was.
Thank you Leatt
