I am writing you as many riders do, thanking you for a great product. Here is my story;
I am a 29yr old ATV MX racer from Fresno, California, USA. I always wear my safety gear, having the experience to realize it’s always cheaper and easier to prevent injury. I’ve worn my Leatt neck brace for a few years now, it’s as important as wearing a helmet to me.
On May 4, 2014, I had a crash on my quad at DT1 MX track in Tulare, CA. While jumping a double, I had done many times before, the rear tires caught the lip of the landing and sent me over the bars. I landed on the back of my left shoulder and side of my head. The hit was hard enough to knock me out for 30sec or so. My major injuries were a broken left collar bone, 3 bruised ribs and a bruised right lung. It was bad enough I could not stand up and walk off the track. The track crew did a great job in being attentive, flagging my crash keeping me safe and then getting the EMT on scene quickly.
At the hospital the trauma Dr. was pleased to find out I was wearing a helmet and a neck brace. Having no head or neck pain also made things comforting to me and the trauma crew.
Thankfully, after a CT scan there was no soft tissue “whiplash” injury or C-spine damage. No surgery for my collar bone, just a short recovery and I’ll be back at it.
Attached are pictures of my helmet and neck brace, the brace cracked on the right side, doing it’s job absorbing energy to save my neck.
Thank you to Leatt, for a product that works! My family won’t ride without one.
