“I am a firm believer in the safety of Leatt products after my incidents”
My name is Kameron Barboa and I am 17 years old.
I qualified for the 2015 Amsoil Amateur National Arenacross Championships. Weeks of mental and physical preparation went into the event.
Practice went well on May 2nd. I qualified fastest in two classes. Everything was seeming to click. Prior to race day I was extremely confident.
The following day was race day. I had a rough start to the day with a start crash and going down in a corner. The following heat race in Schoolboy 2 I was battling for the lead in when I attempted to triple into a rhythm section.
I had been consistently executing the section well before then. But this time I came up short. Usually that would have been okay but the face of the landing was very steep. As soon as I landed the bike immediately rebounded and threw me off into the air completely away from the bike. I flipped multiple times in a front flip until my foot caught the ground for a brief moment causing me to flip back wards. I landed on my head first and my body followed. I was sore, but I was not hurt. After some trouble getting up I managed to come back for my next heat race in my third class. Where, unfortunately, I did the same thing. After two hard crashes I still decided to race the main event. Surprisingly, I still was able to finish all the main events safely and go home with a podium in Two-Stroke B/C. I never got hurt after two incredible crashes.
I believe there was a reason why I did not have any serious injuries I believe it is because of Leatt. I wear the GPX 5.5 neck brace and the hard shell adventure chest protector. I am a firm believer in the safety of Leatt products after my incidents. I will continue to wear Leatt products in my riding career. I believe anyone else who rides should do the same.
