“You chose a good neck brace, you better thank the company. Your neck has zero damage, and all the scans look perfect.”
“You chose a good neck brace, you better thank the company. Your neck has zero damage, and all the scans look perfect.” At that moment, I knew I was a Leatt brace customer for life.
I am writing you to say thank you, from myself, my wife and my four daughters. My name is Steven Toutant and I race quads on TT and Flat Track as of late with my team 1Zero3 Racing.
The main reason I am contacting you is that I was at a race in the New East Extreme Dirt Track Series and Hamlin Speedway in Hamlin Pennsylvania on September 16th and crashed hard. I was thrown from my quad between 10 and 15 feet at over 45 mph. I hit head first, where the Leatt 5.5 brace and my helmet did their job, before flipping over and where the main damage happened.
I slammed my back into the hard pack clay and fractured my spine along with other damage. The track medics were very pleased with how easy the 5.5 was to remove with one touch. One medic said he wished all neck braces were this easy to remove.
I was taken to the Nearest Trauma center because I had lost feeling in my legs and hands, which was only temporary and not caused by neck damage – it was more from shock. While being looked at, scans and x-rays galore, the doctor looked me straight in the eye and said: “You chose a good neck brace, you better thank the company. Your neck has zero damage, and all the scans look perfect.” At that moment, I knew I was a Leatt brace customer for life.
I am 1.5 weeks into recovery and I have been trying to work up the strength to write to you as I didn’t know what to say other than thank you. But, I ended up wanting to say more as I am already getting the itch to get back on, even though I have five more weeks before I am allowed.
In 2015, I had the biggest race of my life and I won, I beat kidney cancer. Once I was better and my strength was back by summer of 2016, I asked my wife what she thought about me getting back into the one thing I love, racing quads. The past 16 years have been helping racers go fast, and I wanted a piece of it once again.
I still get to keep doing what I love because of your neck brace, and I cannot thank Leatt enough. I will not stop racing. Even at the age of 36, I have many years left.
I am now running a TRX250R (363CC now) that I built part by part myself over the past year, in the 2 stroke and 35+ classes. Next year I will be running a custom built CRF Hybrid quad I am working on now in the 35+ class and I will be running my 250R in 2 stroke and an Open class.
My ten-year-old daughter will be starting on the track next year as well, and she will only have one brand around her neck – Leatt, period!
To everyone at Leatt, thank you, from the bottom of my heart, I don’t think you know how much I appreciate your company. My wife and daughters thank you as well, I am still here and not one has asked me to stop doing what I love.
